Major Threats To Our Ecosystem

Our Earth’s ecosystem is in continuous threat:

Life on earth including human beings and plants depends on the ecosystem. Ecosystem constitutes a biological community having different sorts of organisms interaction with each other and with other organisms in the presence of living and nonliving factors.  Living things in a biological community are called as biotic factors and the nonliving things or factors in the ecosystem are called as abiotic factors.

What happens if abiotic or biotic factors get in balanced:

The living organisms of an ecosystem have a great connection with each other and with the abioitic factors in an ecosystem, but if the balance in the ecosystem gets unhinged then the survival of organisms becomes difficult. Let me illustrate it with an example, in a pond, you find fishes and marine animals living in it with many green plankton and algae. You can see that the surrounding animals near the ponds also quench their thirst, but if due to any reason the water in the pond dries out, the marine life in the pond will extinct and the animal on dry land will also die due to thirst the plants on the pond will also dry out. So it is necessary that all the factors biotic and abiotic should remain in balance.

Some threats to earth’s ecosystem :

The unbalance in the ecosystem tends to create a threat to life existing in the ecosystem. Some of the threats are worth ignoring as they may be altered by the natural restoration of the balance of ecosystem but some are worth alarming and concerning threats. Such threats to ecosystems are the result of human industrial progress and rapid increase in human population on the planet.

Major Threats To Our Ecosystem

Destruction of habitats:

The natural’s habitats are getting extinct due to clearing of green land in forest. Human, to get the timber and to get the place for their logging, cut the forest that makes the land under direct exposure of sun rays and rain water causing the soil on land to get erosion.  The animals living on the land get extinct due to such clearing finding no suitable place for their shelter.

Destruction of habitats

Foreign species invasion:

Sometimes due to human bio chemical activities or due to natural process a non required species get biological introduction in an ecosystem that tends to make the native species its pray causing it completely wiped out from ecosystem. Introduction of Nile perch and Nile Tilapia in Lake Victoria caused half marine species extinction in Lake Victoria. Before 1970, there were 350 to 500 plus species in the lake comprising 80%of fish bio mass and much of the fish .The current scenario is that Nile Perch comprises 60 %of fish bio mass plus they let to extinct nearly 200 fish species in the Lake Victoria.

Pollution:

Pollution of any sort or any type is an alarming concern for the ecosystem pollution whether it is due to human activities or due to natural process results to release the toxin material in air and water that causes the life in them to extinct. When the polluted water get interact in the rivers or lake they destroys the marine life in sea and also effects the life on earth by making them consume or use the toxin water
